On the relative symplectic Thom Conjecture
Abstract: The symplectic Thom Conjecture (which is actually a theorem) states that symplectic surfaces in symplectic 4-manifolds minimize genus in their homology class. In work in progress with Matthew Hedden, we study a relative version. In certain cases, we can also extend these ideas beyond the symplectic realm.
